Grain Coast Annual Conference, Global Methodist Conference Secures Future with Landmark Lease Agreement

In a moment marked by gratitude, vision, and renewed commitment, the Grain Coast Annual Conference of the Global Methodist Church has taken a significant step toward strengthening its mission and presence in Liberia. On April 8, 2026, church leaders, partners, and members gathered in a spirit of unity to witness the signing of a historic lease agreement for a four-story building in the Lakpazee Community, Airfield Sinkor, an agreement that promises both stability and growth for years to come.

The ceremony, held at the Barnes Foundation School where the church has been operating under temporary and uncertain conditions was filled with emotion and anticipation. For many, it was more than just the signing of documents; it was the realization of a long-held hope. The agreement, signed between the Global Methodist Church and Father David Farthat alongside Rev. Rose Farthat, secures the property for a period of fifteen years, with the possibility of renewal, ensuring a lasting home for ministry and outreach.

Speaking during the ceremony, Rev. Dr. Jerry P. Kulah, Country Superintendent of the Global Methodist Church in Liberia, expressed heartfelt appreciation to both the Farthat family for their generosity and partnership. “Today is not just about a building,” he declared, “it is about the future of ministry in Liberia. We are deeply grateful to the Farthat family for opening this door for us. We commit ourselves to ensuring that this facility is preserved and used strictly for Christian purposes, reflecting the values and mission of the Church.”

In their response, Father David Farthat and Rev. Rose Farthat reaffirmed their confidence in the church and its leadership, emphasizing that their support is rooted in a shared vision of faith and service. “We are encouraged by the commitment and leadership of the Global Methodist Church,” Father Farthat noted. “This partnership is just the beginning. We are willing to do even more, as long as the Church continues to uphold Christian dignity and remains faithful to its calling.”

Rev. Rose Farthat added her voice with a message of hope and expectation: “We believe this space will not only serve as a place of worship, but as a center of transformation for the community. Our desire is to see lives changed and strengthened, and we are ready to support that vision in every way we can.” “We also trust you with the historic Barnes Foundation School at the end of the school year.” She concluded.

With deep conviction, the church leadership reaffirmed that the newly leased facility will be dedicated strictly to Christian purposes. This promise reflects the church’s unwavering mission to serve as a beacon of hope, a center for spiritual growth, and a place where lives are transformed through the message of Christ. The building is expected to host a range of activities, including worship services, leadership training, community programs, and administrative functions.

For members of the conference, this milestone represents more than physical expansion it symbolizes resilience and faith in action. Having endured the challenges of operating without a permanent space, the church community now looks ahead with renewed confidence, ready to embrace the opportunities that this new facility will provide.

As the ceremony concluded, there was a shared sense that this agreement marks the beginning of a new chapter one defined by stability, partnership, and purpose. With a firm foundation now in place, the Global Methodist Church in Liberia stands poised to deepen its impact, uplift communities, and continue its mission of spreading hope and faith across the nation.
