Persons with Disabilities Receive Life-Changing Support as Church and Partners Demonstrate Christ’s Love Through Compassionate Service
In a remarkable demonstration of compassion and inclusion, Mobility Worldwide, in collaboration with the Grain Coast Annual Conference of the Global Methodist Church (GMC) Liberia, distributed hundreds of mobility carts to persons with disabilities in Ganta, Nimba County. The initiative brought renewed hope and independence to women, men, and children living with mobility impairments, many of whom have long struggled to move freely within their communities.
The distribution attracted beneficiaries from across Nimba County, where hundreds gathered to receive the specially designed hand-powered mobility carts. The program forms part of a broader commitment by Mobility Worldwide and the Grain Coast Annual Conference to improve the quality of life for persons with disabilities while promoting dignity, inclusion, and equal opportunities.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Conference Superintendent Dr. Jerry P. Kulah of the Global Methodist Church Liberia described the initiative as a practical expression of Christian love and service. “The Gospel is not only proclaimed through our words but also through our actions,” Dr. Kulah said. “Today, we are demonstrating the love of Christ by restoring hope, dignity, and mobility to our brothers and sisters. Every person is created in the image of God and deserves to live with respect, opportunity, and hope.”
Dr. Kulah commended Mobility Worldwide for its enduring partnership with the Church and its commitment to transforming lives through practical acts of compassion. He noted that empowering persons with disabilities aligns with the Church’s mission of serving the whole person. “When we help restore mobility, we also restore confidence, strengthen families, and enable individuals to participate more fully in the life of their communities,” he added.
A representative of Mobility Worldwide expressed gratitude for the partnership with the Grain Coast Annual Conference and reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to improving lives around the world. “These mobility carts represent freedom,” the representative said. “They give individuals the opportunity to attend school, engage in business, worship with their communities, and live with greater independence. We are honored to work alongside the Global Methodist Church to bring hope where it is most needed.”
The representative further encouraged beneficiaries to care for the carts and use them to pursue new opportunities. “Our desire is that these carts will not simply improve movement but will also inspire confidence and open doors to education, employment, and community participation. Every cart represents a life that matters.”
Many beneficiaries expressed heartfelt appreciation for the support, describing the mobility carts as life-changing gifts. Several recipients shared that before receiving the carts, they relied heavily on relatives or neighbors for transportation, limiting their ability to attend school, earn a living, or participate in community life.
One beneficiary, speaking on behalf of the recipients, thanked Mobility Worldwide and the Grain Coast Annual Conference for remembering persons with disabilities. “Today is a day we will never forget,” the beneficiary said. “You have not only given us mobility; you have restored our dignity and renewed our hope. We promise to use these carts responsibly and pray that God will continue to bless everyone who made this possible.”
Community members and church leaders praised the initiative as an example of faith translated into action. They noted that the distribution reflects the Global Methodist Church’s commitment to serving vulnerable populations and building communities where every individual is valued and included, regardless of physical ability.
The mobility cart distribution concluded with prayers of thanksgiving and words of encouragement for the beneficiaries. As the Grain Coast Annual Conference and Mobility Worldwide continue their partnership, both organizations reaffirmed their shared commitment to extending Christ’s compassion through practical service, ensuring that persons with disabilities can live with greater independence, dignity, and hope throughout Liberia.
